Thirteen Thousand Years ago Fragments of a Comet could have collided with Earth

It is been postulated that the earth was barraged by a cloud of debris from a disintegrating comet 13,000 years ago. The degree of fragments raining down on the earth could have resulted in a series of mega ton explosions similar to the Tunguska event of 1908 in Siberia. Instead of this 4 km in diameter comet instead of striking a single blow in the ice sheet covering North America could have broken up into smaller fragments that had the effect of a shotgun blast on the surface of the earth.

By that time the earth was pretty well populated with humans and an event of this sort would have been handed down word-of-mouth for thousands of years later. This may be another explanation for some of the events that occurred in the Bible. One of the effects would be mega-tsunamis that could very well explain the legends of floods that are found all over the world.

The breaking up of this comet would've resulted in a series of fiery blasts that would have been as deadly as one big impact. It may be one explanation for the demise of the North American mega-fauna. The impacts could have also caused the deaths of many other animals including humans. There have been frozen mammoths found in Siberia that still have fresh butter cups in their mouth. Their deaths have been a mystery ever since discovering the first frozen woolly mammoth as to why they had fresh vegetation in their mouths. It appeared that they had all been killed instantly.

A possible explanation could be that the impact of a giant meteorite could cause shockwaves that are manifested by high velocity winds striking all at once that would have been able to kill everything they struck.

The proposal for this happening comes from Bill Napier, an astronomer who works at Cardiff University in England. In 1982 Napier along with Victor Clube co-authored a book that is titled The Cosmic Serpent. In this book they suggest that the outer planets sometimes divert giant comets from their orbits allowing them to penetrate the inner solar system. They propose that one of these giant comets had entered the solar system 20,000 to 30,000 years ago that over thousands of years the giant comet broke up into a series of fragments.

They developed a new theory based on this theoretical comet known as the theory of constant catastrophism where they claim we are living in a time of increased meteor impacts. The theoretical comet left behind it the Taurid meteor shower along with the comet Encke and a whole collection of other debris's.

In a new paper on display at www.arix.org that is to appear shortly in the monthly notices of the Royal astronomical Society in London. In this paper Napier explains that the real catastrophe was the Earth hitting a clump of debris that came from a comet that was 50 to 100 km in diameter.

It has been theorized that running into thousands of fragments from this comet would've been just like running into the blast from a shotgun. It is felt by Napier that this is more likely to have happened than a single large collision.

Even if this didn't happen 13,000 years ago there was a different kind of catastrophe that did occur than with the sudden drainage of a huge lake in Canada holding meltwater at the edge of the North American ice sheet. This lake at a cumulated as the glacier melted because it didn't have any place else to go. Whatever held this lake in place eventually broke down or melted causing a tremendous flood.

For years geologists have looked in vain for evidence that this flood went down the St. Lawrence River Valley. A recent paper however shows that some 9500 km³ of water drained out through the Mackenzie River instead. Wallace Broeckner of the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades New York suggests that an Arctic release of this nature might have been an even better trigger for initiating the cold spell that happened over 13,000 years ago.

How a Mega-Flood changed the Earth's Climate

More then 13,000 years ago there was a mega-flood caused by the melting of the glaciers in North America.  This flood effectively changed the earth’s climate creating a period that has been called the Little Ice Age or the Younger Dryas that caused most of Europe to cool down for over 1400 years. It is thought by many geologists that this flood was caused by a sudden drainage of Lake Agassiz that occupied the area of Canada consisting of three different provinces Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. This was a lake larger than the Great Lakes combined that was dumped into the Arctic Ocean causing the Gulf Stream to cease flowing.

At the height of the flood it is been estimated that more than 9500 km³ of water came from Lake Agassiz effectively choking off the Gulf Stream preventing it from bringing warmth to Europe.

Where this great amount water came from was a puzzle to many geologists who originally thought this great flood exited from the interior of North America via the St. Lawrence River. It is only been in recent years that they discovered that this vast flood had exited into the Arctic Ocean via the McKenzie River causing it to be dumped into the Arctic Ocean all at once.

This discovery led to the Bateman report that indicates a large amount of freshwater flowing into the Arctic Ocean within a short time prevented the Gulf Stream from flowing northwards. As we all know the Gulf Stream acts like a huge conveyor belt bringing much-needed warm water from the topics to the western coast of Europe while at the same time the much colder and salty water of the Arctic Ocean sinks into the depths of the Atlantic by skirting the coast of Greenland. According to the scientists this causes an overturning of the Atlantic Ocean causing even more warm water to be drawn into the Gulf Stream from the tropics.

Some scientists believe that even today a period of rapid global warming is capable of causing a sharp increase in the amount of freshwater running off the ice cap of Greenland that would be capable of stopping the Gulf Stream causing a deep-freeze in Europe capable of lasting for hundreds of years.

There are even some recent satellite images as well as computer models that have been performed by scientists at that indicate that the Greenland Ice Sheet has undergone a period of rapid melting that is been dumping large amounts of freshwater into the North Atlantic Ocean. The question is can history repeat itself?

North America's most dangerous animal

Bambi our most dangerous animal:

It is possible to change most people’s perceptions with something as simple as a motion picture. The Walt Disney movie “Bambi” is a sterling example of this, and it did change our perception of deer. In the public's eye the deer is an entirely harmless animal hunted out of sure pleasure. The truth is the cute little deer is the most deadly animal found in North America although there are plenty of contenders for the title the deer wins this one hands down.
Deer are capable of causing injuries and fatalities in many different ways. The most common way is by colliding with a car. Another way that you can be killed by a deer is by being struck with his front hooves that are as sharp as knives and powerful. Another way is if the deer charges you this is most likely to happen during rutting season necause the male takes you for a rival. A doe defending her fawns is another way you can be killed by deer.
This is not taking into consideration the billions of dollars worth of property damage that deer cause every year. Just ask anyone that lives in an area that is overpopulated. A good example of this overpopulation occurs in Fairfield County Connecticut. Many of the residents there have come to look at the deer population as an absolute nuisance and dangerous too.
One night after midnight the author had to drive down the Taconic Parkway in New York State. On this drive he counted over two hundred deer either on the highway itself and more alongside the highway on the shoulders. If it wasn't for his extreme caution we would have hit one of these deer. This was a situation fraught with danger that could have resulted in a wrecked car, and a human fatality and killing one of the deer.
It isn't only on the highway that deer are dangerous. On another occasion the author saw a deer that suddenly appeared in the center of the town where he lived. The deer crashed through the window of a beauty salon, wrecked the place and seriously injured three patrons with its hoofs.
More then one hiker has been killed or injured through an encounter with a deer in the wild. Deer have sharp hooves at the end of their forelegs, and they know how to use them to defend themselve’s if they feel threatened. During part of the year a buck deer has a rack of anthers that are intended for use as weapons during the mating season while fighting over does with other buck deer. The buck deer’s antlers are large multi-pointed bony growths on the deer’s head that end in many sharp points. A chance encounter with a deer may end in tragedy for the human.
A particular dangerous encounter can happen with a wounded deer suddenly coming back to life, and kicking the hunter with his hooves or antlers. More then one hunter has been killed or seriously injured from an encounter of this sort.
Deer are also able to do property damage because of their eating habits. One of their favorite meals is your backyard garden, or your decorative shrubs. There is a whole industry devoted to keeping deer out of your garden, and another one that tries to keep them away from your shrubs.
The amount of damage they can cause by darting out in front of your car is measured in the billions every year. This is why some drivers equip their cars with little supersonic whistles mounted on their front bumpers so they can scare the deer enough so they won't dart out in front of them.
Because of a Walt Disney classic “Bambi” most people have the wrong idea about deer. They wrongly give them human attributes, when in reality they are wild animals. In many places the deer population has run amok because of ill directed public policy that was created by well intentioned humans. This misguided policy is neither kind to the deer, and creates as very real danger to humans and their property.
There is no good deed that goes unpunished so the old saying goes, so be it with deer. It has been found that no matter how a protective ordinance makes you feel good another old saying is, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions!” Virtually every one of these ordinances has resulted in overcrowding of the deer population. They have greatly increased the danger of a chance encounter with the human population.
